John Vesely, seseorang musisi yang mengembara melalui kehidupan, dari band ke band, menemukan bahwa dia tidak pernah bisa cocok dengan menjadi suatu band. Kemudian pada musim panas tahun 2004, John memutuskan untuk melakukannya dengan cara sendiri dan bersolo karier.

Untuk membedakan diri dari khas penyanyi / penulis lagu, John mengadopsi nama Secondhand Serenade - nama dengan batas jauh lebih sedikit daripada "John". Nama Secondhand Serenade memungkinkan dia untuk bebas melakukan apapun yang mendeskripsikan seperti apa dirinya dan bebas mencurahkan apa yang dia rasakan.

Secondhand Serenade membuat John tidak percaya - banyak orang-orang disekitarnya dan di jaringan internet yang mendorongnya untuk merilis album debutnya, Awake.

Betapa hebatnya dia, John menghasilkan sepuluh seluruh trek sendiri. John tidak hanya terorganisir rekaman, namun semuanya ke kinerja dan kemasan. Dan semua ini tanpa dukungan label.

Semua usaha dan perhatian terbayar lunas, dengan penjualan album dan single yang terus meroket, seperti single Maybe, yang disambut baik di stasiun radio populer.

Sebuah kontrak rekaman sekarang sepertinya sangat memungkinkan, namun sampai hari ini, Secondhand Serenade akan meneruskan bekerja mandiri.
